Discover the Castle
Don’t just explore the beautiful gardens during your stay; take a moment to visit the Castle as well. As you enter the ‘Kasteeltuinen’, you’ll immediately notice the Castle on your left-hand side. Built in the 17th century by the Dukes of Guelders, the current castle stands on the remnants of its predecessor, which in turn was constructed upon the remains of the very first castle ‘Huys den Kamp.’ The present castle was erected during the Baroque period. However, its symmetry was disrupted by a fire in the 19th century, resulting in the loss of the left wing, which was never rebuilt. The castle’s last resident, Professor Deusser, vacated the premises in 1931.
